Pilat&Pilat acquires furniture brand SlowWood

As of January 1, 2024, Pilat&Pilat Produkties will, in addition to the Famylje Collection, also carry the SlowWood collection. Christien Starkenburg, founder of SlowWood and Gjalt and Annelies Pilat, owners of Pilat&Pilat, are pleased with this decision.

love for wood and craftsmanship

Christien Starkenburg: “Everything involved in running a brand requires time, continuity and effort. I am a designer and I like to create, that is where my strength lies. For SlowWood I was looking for a party that could further expand SlowWood.

For several years now, SlowWood furniture has been made by Lockwood, the furniture production company of Pilat&Pilat. The transfer to Pilat&Pilat therefore feels like a logical step. Through the transfer to Pilat&Pilat, SlowWood becomes part of the large Pilat family, which feels like coming home. Christien Starkenburg remains involved in the art direction and development of SlowWood and Pilat&Pilat includes SlowWood in its many years of experience and knowledge in the furniture industry.

Christien indicates: “We appreciate each other and each other’s qualities. We are both down-to-earth Frisians and share the same values. We are makers, doers and share a great love for wood and craftsmanship.”

For Pilat&Pilat, the acquisition of SlowWood is a valuable addition to their existing collection.

Annelies Pilat: “We think that with both collections we can offer beautiful and honest products to various customer groups. Although the collections each have their own signature and handwriting, there are also some similarities. Both work with solid wood and the designs are characterized by simplicity and archetypal shapes, honest craftsmanship made by professionals, they are products that will last a lifetime.
